“Lai Yuen Super Summer 2016” officially opens
This summer’s must-visit attraction to offer brand-new entertainment features and activities at AsiaWorld-Expo from July 16 to August 7
【July 15, 2016, Hong Kong】Hong Kong’s iconic amusement park Lai Yuen has today officially returned. From tomorrow until August 7, “Lai Yuen Super Summer 2016” will offer a wide range of diversified, fun-filled and exciting features at AsiaWorld-Expo. As one of this summer’s must-visit attractions, Lai Yuen will continue to bring happiness to Hongkongers.
Numerous guests descended upon Lai Yuen today for the grand opening and charity day of “Lai Yuen Super Summer 2016”. At the opening ceremony, Lai Yuen treated guests to a special performance of “Yo-kai Watch Universe Dance” – a favourite of children – and announced the winning entries of “Animals Hide N’Seek Hong Kong Primary and Secondary Schools Paper Mache Contest”. All 20 animals from the four categories are now placed inside the attraction.
Lai Yuen has also partnered with event partner AsiaWorld-Expo to invite 13 charitable organisations, who were one of the first guests to experience Lai Yuen for free and create unforgettable memories together. The organisations included: CLAP for Youth @ JC: BGCA Career and Life Adventure Planning Service Team (Kowloon East), and YWCA Career and Life Adventure Planning Service Team (HK & Outlying Islands); The Neighborhood Advice-Action Council Tung Chung Integrated Services Centre; YMCA of Hong Kong; Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council; Christian and Missionary Alliance Tung Chung Church; Po Leung Kuk; St. James' Settlement; Yan Mei (Miss Asia) Charity Organization; Hong Kong New Arrivals Services Foundation Limited; Earth Rescue Team; Hong Kong Children Education Association; and HKSKH Lady MacLehose Centre.
“This year, we have employed a new angle to exemplify Lai Yuen’s mission of ‘keeping up with the times’ and enable this generation of children to create happy memories with their families,” says Duncan Chiu, chairman of Lai Yuen Amusement Park Limited. “Lai Yuen’s history is rich with many ‘firsts’ for Hong Kong, such as the first Ferris wheel, the first ice-skating rink, the first haunted house, the first dollar auction and more. ‘Innovation’ is indeed deeply engrained in the Lai Yuen culture. This year, Lai Yuen has innovated again by introducing another ‘first’ in Hong Kong entertainment – the XRace electric go-kart.”
“Lai Yuen Supper Summer 2016” offers 22 exciting features as well as diversified games and activities for everyone from families to friends to couples, including: Happy Summer with Sofye, Lai Yuen x Sofye’s Fantasy World, Lai Yuen x Yo-Kai Watch Incredible Journey, Petite Family Garden, ChariTEE, Inflatable Mad Dash, XRace, The Next Stop Is Lai Yuen, Happy Kiddy Ride, Rainbow Ball Pool, Bumper Car, DINO SAYS HELLO, DINO Dum Dum Jump, TINO, Lai Yuen Grand Stage, and game booths including Roll the Yo-Kai Watch, Hole-in-One, Buzzer Beater, Bull’s Eye, I Want to Score, Tile Game, as well as Food & Beverage Zone.
Opening Hours and Ticketing Details
“Lai Yuen Super Summer 2016” will open from July 15 (opening ceremony and charity day) – August 7 (24 days in total) at the outdoor marshalling area, and Halls 8 and 10 of AsiaWorld-Expo. Lai Yuen Super Summer 2016:
The re-opening of Lai Yuen in 2015 aimed to continue the spirit of “simple happiness” and re-create unforgettable moments for Hongkongers. About Lai Yuen:
Established at Lai Chi Kok in 1949, Lai Yuen was an amusement park that connected everyone in Hong Kong. Lai Yuen had a number of facilities and a zoo, which made it a popular amusement park at that time. Lai Yuen closed in cheers in 1997, and bid farewell to people in Hong Kong with 48 years of happy memories.
